1、 Vermiculite is a kind of silicates, which is a mica suborganism. Its main chemical composition is 22mgo · 5al2o3 · Fe2O3 · 22sio2 · 40h2o
Theoretical formula after calcination and expansion: (OH) 2 (MgFe) 2 · (sialfe) 4o104h2o
2、 Raw ore vermiculite is a kind of layered structure material with a small amount of water between layers. After being heated at 900-950 ℃, it can dehydrate and burst to 4-15 times of its original volume, forming a porous light body material. It has heat insulation, high temperature resistance, insulation, antifreeze, earthquake resistance, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, sound insulation and other properties.
Physical and chemical properties of vermiculite
Use of vermiculite
1、 For thermal insulation
Expanded vermiculite has the characteristics of porous, light weight and high melting point. It is suitable for high temperature insulation materials (below 1000 ℃) and fire insulation materials. The vermiculite cement board with a thickness of 15 cm was burned at 1000 ℃ for 4-5 hours, and the back temperature was only about 40 ℃. Seven centimeter thick vermiculite board is burned for five minutes under 3000 ℃ high temperature through flame net welding, the front side is melted, and the back side is still not hot with hands. So it exceeds all the insulation. Such as asbestos, diatomite products, etc.
Vermiculite can be used as heat preservation materials for high temperature facilities, such as heat preservation brick, heat preservation board, heat preservation cap, etc. Vermiculite powder, cement vermiculite products (vermiculite brick, vermiculite board, vermiculite pipe, etc.) or asphalt vermiculite products can be used for thermal insulation of equipment requiring thermal insulation. Such as walls, roofs, refrigerators, boilers, steam pipes, liquid pipes, water towers, converter furnaces, heat exchangers, dangerous goods warehouses, etc.
2、 For sound insulation
As vermiculite expands to form a fine air separation layer, forming a porous sound insulation material. When the frequency is 2000c / s, the sound absorption rate is 63% when vermiculite thickness is 5mm, 84% when vermiculite thickness is 6mm, and 90% when vermiculite thickness is 8mm.
3、 For radiation protection facilities
Vermiculite can absorb radiation. Vermiculite plate installed in the laboratory can replace high price lead plate to absorb 90% of scattered radiation. The thickness of vermiculite is 65mm, which is equivalent to 1mm lead plate.
4、 For plant cultivation
Vermiculite powder has good properties of water absorption, air permeability, adsorption, looseness and non hardening, and it is sterile and non-toxic after high temperature cultivation and roasting, which is good for the rooting and growth of plants. It can be used for planting, seedling raising and cutting of precious flowers and trees, vegetables, fruit trees and grapes, as well as for making flower fertilizer and nutrient soil
5、 Used in the manufacture of chemical coatings
Vermiculite has acidbase corrosion resistance. It has corrosion resistance to sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, acetic acid below 5%, ammonia water below 5% and sodium carbonate. Because of its light weight, loose, smooth, large diameter thickness ratio, strong adhesion, high temperature resistance and other characteristics, it can also be used as a filler for coating manufacturing (fire retardant coating, noise reducing coating, waterproof coating), which can prevent coating precipitation and send product performance.
6、 For friction materials
Expanded vermiculite is a new type of environmental protection material, which has the properties of sheet and heat insulation, and can be used as friction material and brake material.
